About Christmas in Goa
Christmas is celebrated with great pomp all over the world.Jesus Christ was born that day but he was not born in a palace but in a manger.Christmas is celebrated in great way in every household and they decorate there homes to welcome baby Jesus.People decorate the Christmas tree and make cribs and made the sweets namely Neureos, Bibinca, Dodol, dose etc.
Children and elders go around singing carols and wait for Christmas father to get them gifts. Live cribs with carol singing make rounds in villages. People from all religious communities in Goa take part in the festivities of Christmas as the programs held at the different parishes during this festive week. The mid night Christmas mass draws huge crowds which includes goan, people from India, as well as many foreign tourists. After the mass there are cultural events and social gatherings with each person wishing every person they meet a “Merry Christmas”

Traditional Celebration of Christmas in Goa
Christmas celebration begin around a week in advance when a group with one of them dressed as Santa go around collecting funds from other people.While the actual celebrations begin on the Christmas eve when the families hang stars outside their house, usually carved out of wood or made from kite papers. Relatives join in for a combined dinner comprising of delicious food. Carols are sung and later on, people dressed in new attires visit their local churches to attend midnight masses that continues till early hours in the morning.
Festivities that Extend to New Year
Christmas celebration do not stop with Christmas day getting over but actually the beginning of the grand celebrations that includes New Year celebrations and culminates with the Feast of the Magi or the three kings on January 6th.
