Dudhsagar Waterfalls – Goa
The Dudh Sagar waterfall is situated in the Indian state of Goa in Sanguem taluka. Dudhsagar Falls (means The mihir & Chandiveera Sea of Milk in marathi and konkani) is a tiered waterfall located on the Mandovi River on Goa’s border with the state of Karnataka.
Note: Dudhsagar Falls is listed as India’s 5th tallest waterfall and is 227th in the world with height of 310 mts and width of 30 mts.
Water plummets hundreds of feet in a milky foam in one of Goa’s most spectacular sights which is also a lifeline to the ecosystem of the Bhagwan Mahavir sanctuary. A popular destination for hikers and trekkers, the waterfall is also accessible by jeep through the sanctuary. However, one needs to obtain permission in advance from the Department of Forests at Junta House, Panaji.

Dudhsagar waterfalls is located 10 kms from Colem Railway Station, these majestic falls are accessible by train. The waterfall is 60 kms from Panaji. This waterfalls lies on the Londa-Madgaon railway route.
Best time to visit Dudhsagar Waterfall
The fall is generally calm during summers. But during monsoon due to incessant downpour, the falls become active and attract a huge chunk of tourists. The best time to see the spectacular waterfall is during the monsoon season.
How to reach Dudhsagar Waterfall
The waterfall is accessible by train and rough road. You can take buses and taxis from Panaji city to reach Dudhsagar falls.
By Train in Goa
It is 10 kilometers from Kulem Railway Station (Indian Railway station code QLM). To view this waterfalls from close distance, travel by Delhi-Goa express (12780), Pune-Ernakulam Express(11098), Chennai-VascoDaGama Express or Miraj-Castle Rock passenger train which starts from Miraj rail junction.
By Train from Karnataka
The falls is border for Karnataka and Goa states. One can also reach from Karnataka. The only accessible connectivity is Train. The station route is Hubli->Dharwad->Londa OR Belgaum->Londa->Castle Rock->Kannai Ghat-> Doodha Sagar.

- Trekking near Dudhsagar Falls: For trekkers there is small shelter built on side of river where one can set up tent. Trekking season starts in September month and continue till rains start again.
- Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary: You can visit wildlife sanctuary, it is the largest wildlife Sanctuary in India. The main attraction of the park are Royal Bengal Tigers, Barking deer, Blank Panther, bonnet macaque, common langur, civet, flying squirrel, gaur, leopards, mouse deer, pangolin, porcupine, sambar, spotted deer, wild boar and wild dog.
- Swimming at Dudhsagar: swimming at DudhsagarTourists can indulge in swimming in the pools created by the fall. Swimming at these pools is extremely delightful and safe too.
GTDC Travel Package to Dudhasagar Waterfall
The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) runs tours to Dudhsagar on Saturday and Sunday from Panaji and Calangute. You could also take a train to Dudhsagar from Madgaon (Margao) and get there in an hour and half. However during summer, when the level of the water is low, you can hire a Jeep and access the foot of the falls from either Molem or Collem.

There are not much accommodation options near Dudhsagar waterfalls. There is a Forest rest-house, owned by KTDC, near the falls. Else visitors can stay at Margoa and plan a one day trip to Dudhsagar Falls.
